Enabling or Disabling Interfaces

On YubiKeys that have multiple interfaces, you may want to disable or enable certain interfaces on your YubiKey to restrict or enable access to certain applets that rely on that connection interface. YubiKeys have all of the modes enabled by default.

 

You can use the steps below to change which interfaces are enabled on your YubiKey. Please be aware that with YubiKey 5 Series devices, the USB interfaces will automatically be enabled or disabled based on the applications you have enabled. 

 

Yubico Authenticator for Desktop

  1. Download and install Yubico Authenticator for Desktop.
  2. Insert the YubiKey.
  3. Open Yubico Authenticator.
  4. From the Home page, click Toggle applications on the far right.
  5. Click on the applications you want enabled or disabled.
  6. Be sure to make the changes under the Interface (USB/NFC) that will be used.
  7. Click Save.
  8. If prompted, remove and reinsert your YubiKey.

Note: You must leave at least one USB interface enabled.
