The YubiKey can be connected to older iPad or iPhone devices (such as iPad 3 or iPhone 4 and older) using Apple’s Camera Connection Kit, or newer devices (such as iPad 4 or iPhone 6) using a Lightning-to-USB Camera Adapter. Only core YubiKey functions (Yubico OTP, Static Password, and OATH-HOTP) are supported. These Getting Started steps are valid on non-jailbroken iOS devices (iPad or iPhones) only. For information on how to get started using your YubiKey NEO and YubiKey 4 series devices on macOS devices, see How To Get Started with YubiKey on macOS.

This article applies to YubiKey NEO and YubiKey 4 series devices only (FIDO U2F Security Key by Yubico cannot be used on iOS devices at this time).

  2. Click in the YubiKey field, and then touch your YubiKey. The YubiKey sends your One-Time Password to the server.

Note: If the One-Time Password fails (and begins with a capital letter), check to be sure you have turned off auto-capitalization in the iOS preferences. This setting is turned on by default. To turn it off, go to Settings > General > Keyboards, and slide the setting to turn off Auto-Capitalization).

You need to do these steps only once for each new YubiKey you want to use on your iOS device.
