Programming a static password into your YubiKey


 

A static password requires no back-end server integration, and works with most legacy username/password solutions.

Using Yubico Authenticator

To configure the static password using Yubico Authenticator, you will need to download the application. Once Yubico Authenticator has been downloaded and installed, you can begin configuring the static password by following the process below:

  1. Open Yubico Authenticator
  2. Open Slots ()

  3. Choose one of the slots to configure.

    manual-icon.svg Note: Slot 1 is preconfigured from the factory with Yubico OTP
    and if overwritten you would need to re-program the slot with Yubico
    OTP if you intend to use this feature in the future.
  4. Select Static Password

  5. Select the keyboard type (e.g. US, UK, DE, etc.) 
  6. If you would like the YubiKey to send a carriage return (Enter) after sending the static password, click new button.png
  7. Click to generate a new random 38 character password.

  8. Click Save to write the static password to the selected slot.
